Dowel Joint Advantages. There is no need for screws, nails or other equipment
Disadvantages
- Tenon and mortise joints are stronger, but it takes a lot longer to create
- The alignment could be hard to get for beginners
Mark out one half of the joint only and drill holes for the dowels.
- Insert Dowel Centres into the drilled holes.
- Press the two halves of the joint together so that the Dowel Centers mark the second piece.
- Drill holes for dowels in the second piece using the drill press
