Festool: Domino Michael & Li
THE FESTOOL DOMINO
History
Festool is a brand of power tools from Germany. Festool Group GmbH & Co. KG is based in Wendlingen and is a subsidiary of the TTS Tooltechnic Systems holding company. It is known for its system-based approach on power tools and focus on dust extraction.
Application to Cabinetmaking
The Festool Domino is an efficient method of joinery. This system consists of a joiner and a compartment containing various sized tenons.
There is also a dust collection system that collects dust right at the source for minimal air bound particles. This dust collector is compatible with all Festool's products.
The joiner has an adjustable mortise sizer. The tenons are 100 percent rotation-proof and create a stronger joint than biscuits and dowels.

Personal Reflection
Using the Festool once the setup is complete is pretty fool proof, however it is important to mark your center line to ensure that you make the mortises on the correct side of your material.
Festools are expensive but they are great investments if you have a small shop or if you travel to your work site since the tools have a build in dust collection system.
